So far it's been okay. Hasn't been to windy to see how it holds up. They were a pain to fill up. My son came up with a concoction that worked well. He made a hole in an aluminum pie plate and placed it around the hole of the weight. Then he got my pie/cookie mat and made a slide so to speak. Placed the end in the hole and poured the sand in the mat. It slid down from the top to bottom. It made a thinner flow into the hole and not much went in the pie plate. Worked better than the funnel provided. We tried the canning funnel but that hole was to big.
These work great and the price is great. It's too bad it doesn't come with a funnel for the sand. Water works just as well though and it's easier to fill.
They even have cute little handles on the side for easy transportation.
Easy to use and does the job.
We're very pleased with these stands. They're much more attractive than the original legs on the cantilever umbrella (on which we originally used sand bags), and, filled with water, they have been more than adequate to support the umbrella, even in brisk winds. (By the way, unless you have 1. very dry sand, 2. a good funnel and 3. a great deal of patience, you're not going to fill these with sand; the design is not accommodating for the easy use of sand.) The reason I'm not giving the product five stars is because of the difficulty attaching the provided legs to the underside of the stand. The provided bolts were not long enough to give adequate purchase to the pre-drilled holes, so I had to replace with longer bolts.
Note that there are only two wheels on the mast-side of the base, meaning you have to lean the stand back like a hand truck to get it to move. Unfortunately, however, to do this means fighting the weight of the bulk of the stand in front. Using the mast of the umbrella as a lever risks bending or snapping the mast. It's best to lift the stand from the front, away from the mast, and move the stand into position (or just make it a two-man job). I have two of these stands on my composite deck, and, while I don't move them often, when I do I wind up sliding them more than rolling them.
Works perfectly with the Sundale umbrella we bought with it. Easy to fill with dry playground sand and a funnel.
Easy to put together. Very sturdy material. Packaging is very crumbly though so take it apart in your garage or someplace you cant easily clean up small pieces of Styrofoam. It was annoying lol.
I didn't like the wimpy stand that came with a patio set I bought, so I ordered this cast iron stand. I'm so glad I did! It's terrific.
This is a great looking, sturdy holder. Now even in our Florida storms my patio table and umbrella stay upright.
Product came as described. Worked perfectly, would order again!
